- Graduated from the Verdi National Music Academy in Italy

- Winner of the Tchaikovsky International Competition and recipient of the Tchaikovsky Prize
- First place and Best Baritone Award at the Verdi International Competition
- Grand Prize at the Pavarotti International Competition and first place in several prestigious international competitions
- Recipient of the Cultural Medal of South Korea twice (Okgwan, Bogwan), and Minister of Culture Award
- Former professor at the Korea National University of Arts, School of Music (1993-2015)

Currently a special professor in the Department of Integrated Arts at Sahmyook University
